FIM: 1st Supermoto World Championship win for Iddon
The Auto Cycle Union has great pleasure in congratulating one of the Country’s top Supermoto riders, Christian Iddon on his first World Championship race win.
Christian, aged 22, from Stockport is possibly the Country’s most experienced Supermoto rider, switching from motocross when the first national Supermoto championship was organised. He has competed in the FIM World Supermoto Championship and always been a very strong contender for race wins since 2004, securing 9th place in the S2 Championship, 2005 saw Christian move up to the S1 Class, finish 6th including 4 podium places. Improving further again in 2006 gave him 4th place in the World Championship, with 10 podium finishes, including 3 Runner Up spots.
For 2007 Christian is obviously intent on being one of the main contenders for Championship honours and Round 1 on 29th April in Italy, after a disappointing first race 9th, Christian made amends in Race 2 securing his first World Championship win and an Overall 3rd place in the Championship standings.
A further two British competitors also secured points in Italy, Matt Winstanley for 7th place in Race 2 and Sam Warren, 14th Race 1 and 20th in Race 2.
The three riders will be back in World Championship action at Round 2, Supermoto Grand Prix of Italy in Torino on 26th May 2007.
